Description

The IRIS Medical family of EndoProbes handpieces provides treatment capability for endophotocoagulation procedures such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal breaks and detachments.
The probes produce a reliable, consistent, and focused laser beam at a safe focal distance from the treatment area. EndoProbe handpieces are designed for use with all IRIS Medical laser photocoagulators and are also validated for use with certain laser systems that accept a universal SMA connector. All EndoProbes handpieces are double bagged in sterile packaging and are intended for single use only.

EndoProbe Product Benefits Include:

  • Narrow cone angle design - Low beam divergence increases working distance and margin of safety.
  • Uniform Mode Quality - As the result of propietary process engineering, IRIDEX probes have superior mode quelity, resulting in consistent and reproducible burns.
  • Patented Interlock System - The patented IRIDEX interlock system identifies the probe to the laser to ensure delivery of precisely calibrated laser energy.
  • Ergonomic Handpiece - The light-weight, ergonomically designed handpiece provides superior tactile feel and grip. The handle is made of aluminum for a higher qyelity and more durable feel than comparable plastic handles.

Relative Spot Size Difference Between Probes

The Effect on Cone Angle on Working distance

Cone Angle refers to the degree the laser beam disperses from the aperture of the probe. All IRIDEX EndoProbe Handpieces are designed such that the laser beam is emitted with a narrow cone angle. As a result, the probe can be positioned farther away from the target to produce a given spot diameter when compared with competitive laser probes.

Working Distance Difference

The additional working distance provided by IRIDEX probes can make the surgery easier and may provide an additional margin of safety for the patient.

Straight
20 gauge, Straight, PN 10562
25 gauge, Straight, PN 13920
23 gauge, Straight, PN 14390

Provides direct access to the treatment site and facilitates easy insertion and extraction at the sclerotomy.

25 gauge model compatible with standard sutureless vitrectomy systems.

Angled
20 gauge, Angled 45 degrees, PN 10547

Used for treatment of the peripheral retina

Provides greater flexibility when utilizing a wide field viewing system and allows easier access around the eye and less chance of hitting the lens in phakic eyes.

Features a tapered needle tip for added visibility of the treatment area and easier insertion into the eye.

Fluted (Passive Aspirating)
20 gauge, Straight, PN 11473

Used for subretinal fluid aspirartion seen in tears and detachments.

Provides the utility of passive aspiration and endophotocoagulation into one device.

Optimal device for surgeons who prefer to control the rate of fluid extrusion with their finger rather than using the mechanical aspiration of a vitrectomy system.

Aspirating (Active)
20 gauge, Straight, PN 14000
20 gauge, Amgled 45 degrees, PN 14010

Provides utility of active aspiration and endophotocoagulation into one device.

Eliminates the need for an extrusion needle and frees hand for illumination.

Luer fitting compatible with standard aspirating equipment.

Stepped Angled NEW
20-24 gauge, Angled 45 degrees, PN 14030
25-30 gauge, Angled 45 degrees, PN 14120
23-27 gauge, Angled 45 degrees, PN 14400

Smooth, gently tapered needle permits angled tip to be inserted through standard 25 gauge instrumentation and 20 gauge cannulas.

Rigid, fixed angle provides sturdy alternative to flex-tip directional probes.

20-24 gauge model offers an alternative to a standard angled probe for surgeons who prefer top work through a cannula or who prefer a smaller diameter tip.

25-30 gauge model is the only fixed angled probe available for 25 gauge surgery.

Provide white illumination with laser delivery in one convenient handpiece.

Combines seven illumination fibers and 1 laser fiber to allow high transmission and unparalleled brightness. Homogenous illumination is obtained from high quqlity glass fibers and geametry of fiber bundle.
Laser and illumionation fibers are flush at probe tip to avoid shadows in the illuminated field.

Only one hand is required for illumination and laser delivery, allowing the other hand to operate additional instruments.

Requires fewer instrument insertion during surgery.

Note: adapter to light source may be required.

The illuminating EndoProbe is indicated for endophotocoagulation for treatment of diabetic retinopathy, retinal breaks and detachments, and neovascular glaucoma.

Visualize and photocoagulate around the retinotomy site drain subretinal fluid.

Illuminate and photocoagulate retinal breaks and detachments in the periphery.

Visualize and photocoagulate ciliary processes in neovascular glaucoma.

Fiber optic can be continuously adjusted over a wide range of angles (0-90) for full coverage of peripheral retina without removing the probe from the eye.

Fiber optic extends in a logical motion and bends more sharply as slider is pushed forward.

Consistent mode quality and spot size across all angles.
